in segreto sotto la torretta di guardia del Muro di Berlino e lui li guardava dalla finestra dello studio di registrazione
Secondo invece il suo produttore la coppia in questione era invece formata proprio dallo stesso Bowie
Per quanto riguarda Helden è appunto la cover in tedesco sempre cantata da Bowie del suo successo Heroes

In questa canzone (che a mio parere mette i brividi, soprattutto nel ritornello finale), si immagina che i media diano la notizia che fra cinque anni il mondo cesserà di esistere e quindi il testo sottolinea rezioni di panico isterico collettivo.
Il fatto prende spunto da un evento di cronaca reale: nel 1938 l'attore Orson Welles produsse la trasmissione radiofonica THE MERCURY THEATRE ON THE AIR in cui recitava la parte del protagonista del romanzo LA GUERRA DEI MONDI in forma di reportage giornalistico.
La sua recitazione fu talmente realistica che molte persone credettero che la notizia di un invasione aliena sulla terra fosse vera e in diverse città degli stati uniti ci furono scene di panico violento che provocarono alcuni morti.

La canzone è una sorta di rilessione sullo status di rock star scritta forse appositamente per creare un addio di grande effetto a ZIGGY STARDUST che come anticipato da Vera inscenò il proprio suicidio artistico il 3 luglio del 1973 all Hammersmith Odeon di Londra.
Per quanto possa essere frutto di un calcolo però il testo è bellissimo.
Indimenticabile la parte finale in cui urla le parole GIVE ME YOUR HANDS!
Il pezzo a mio parere che più glam non si può , senza dubbio il mio preferito tra i periodi di Bowie... Crying or Very sad

Questi sono gli anni della sperimentazione, ben lontani dai luccicanti ed effimeri periodi del glam rock.
Il titolo della canzone (che potete trovare anche nella colonna sonora di Christiane f, noi i ragazzi dello zoo di Berlino per la quale Bowie ha ceduto tantissimi suoi pezzi di quegli anni Very Happy

)richiama l'opera di John Osborne del 1957 ovvero il dramma dell insoddisfazione.
Bowie quì immagina di riceve un ultima visita dall' angelo della morte del quale fa un dipinto (questo si vede nel videoclip) che poi raffigurerebbe praticamente sempre lui, diventando improvvisamente uno pseudo Dorian Grey che guarda angosciato il suo ritratto invecchiare velocemente.
Probabilmente vuole trattare anche il tema dell' incapacità di accettare lo scorrere del tempo.
Consiglio vivamente di guardare il videoclip cmq,uno dei più particolari di David Bowie.

Scritta a New Orleans è una riflessione sul determinismo forse ispirata anche alla morte dell' amico Billy Murcia batterista dei New York Dolls trovato morto ne 72 nella sua vasca da bagno probabilmente a causa di un cocktail letale di alcool e droga.
Bellissima interpretazione quella del pianoforte di Mick Garson che riporta ad una dimensione temporale lontana proprio come il testo richiede.
Indimenticabile è ovviamente l' interpretazione vocale e mimica di Bowie, assolutamente teatrale (con l'uso accuratissimo di pause e sospiri e particolissime pantomime)
Potete ammirare ed ascoltare il tutto sul dvd The motion Picture contenente il famoso concerto del 73 all' Hammersmith Odeon di Londra, lì Bowie sfodera nel pezzo il meglio di se anche con l'aiuto dei suoi bellissimi e coloratissimi costumi futuristici pseudo giapponesi. I love you

Come anticipato nel titolo del brano, Sorrow nn è un pezzo di Bowie ma una cover di un brano del 1966 e inserito nell' album Pin Ups del 1972 fatto per l'appunto interamente di Covers.
Nel musical 1980 the floor show (che si può vedere tranquillamente su ebay) bowie interpreta e recita (com'è solito fare) questo brano con l'aiuto di una bravissima e bellissima Amanda Lear e di un altrettanto bravo effemminatissimo sassofonista nero!
Nonostante nn sia lui il creatore di questa splendida canzone il suo arrangiamento stile glam rock con tanto di violini e sassofono di sottofondo rende giustizia tranquillamente all'originale, anzi mi permetto di dire che è anche più bella dell' originale!
La amo, davvero! Quando la ascolto non la finisco più di danzettare!!(che è un misto tra ballare e saltellare! Wink
